THE DESTINATION
THE DESTINATION & where to find it
Costalunga occupies a hillside clearing in the forested interior of Liguria, roughly 30 kilometres inland from the coast. The setting is green and elevated. Surrounding woodland presses in on all sides, and on clear days the valley opens up below with long views towards the hills.
The campsite is compact rather than sprawling. Grassy pitches are spread across the sloping terrain under partial tree cover. The layout keeps things close enough to feel communal without feeling cramped. At the top of the site, the infinity pool acts as the natural gathering point, its edge dropping away towards the panorama below.
This is a fully clothes-free campsite. Nudity is the norm throughout during the day, and the atmosphere reflects it: relaxed, unselfconscious, and unhurried.
THE EXPERIENCE
THE EXPERIENCE & what to expect
The pace here is slow and social. Mornings start quietly around the pitches, and by late morning the pool terrace fills up. Conversations happen easily. The owners are present and approachable, and returning guests set the tone for newcomers. There is a warmth to the place that comes from its modest scale and loyal following.
Days tend to revolve around the pool, the forest trails that begin at the campsite’s edge, and the shared meals that bring people together in the evenings. A restaurant and bar on site handle the basics: coffee, snacks, drinks, and communal barbecue evenings. Organised activities rotate through the season.
Accommodation ranges from traditional camping pitches to fixed rentals. The pitches are grassy and reasonably sized, all with electricity. For those who prefer a roof, mobile homes sleep up to four and come with a small kitchen, bathroom, and covered porch. Megapod bungalows offer a similar setup in a more compact form. The rentals are simple and functional rather than luxurious, but they are well-maintained and come fully equipped.
The crowd leans towards couples and families. Children are definitely welcome, and the atmosphere reflects it: safe, easygoing, and free of any edge. There is a convivial spirit here that intensifies in high summer but never disappears entirely, even in the quieter shoulder months.

GETTING THERE & what to know
getting there
The nearest airport is Genoa Cristoforo Colombo (GOA), roughly 30 kilometres from the campsite. From there, the drive inland takes about 40 minutes depending on traffic. A car is strongly recommended. Public transport connections to Sassello exist but are limited and impractical with camping gear. The final stretch of road winds through forest and climbs steadily. Signage for the campsite appears as you approach Sassello.

what to know
Nudity is expected throughout the campsite during the day when weather allows. The site is at 400 metres elevation, so evenings can turn cool even in summer. Bring a layer. The surrounding area is rich in local products: Amaretti di Sassello biscuits, chestnuts, honey, and mushrooms are all worth seeking out in the village. A nearby wine region is accessible by car for tastings.
