Lake Como is the oldest clothes-free resort in Florida and, at 200 acres, one of the largest. The whole resort is set on the shore of a big lake in the Tampa area, a region often called the naked capital of the United States.
Most of the action is in the central area, which has the swimming pool, a large hot tub, and a sauna. The Bare Buns Cafe and the Butt Hutt bar are here too. Camping and rentals spread out from there.
Further along the lake shore are a playground, petanque, and pickleball courts. The southern part of the resort holds tennis and volleyball courts and a golf course. Evenings centre on the Butt Hutt bar, which opens daily and hosts live music and karaoke at weekends. The Bare Buns Cafe serves lunch and dinner on weekdays, except Tuesday, and breakfast at weekends. Between meals there is the hot tub, the sauna, pickleball, volleyball, tennis, and golf.
Accommodation covers camping and rentals. Short stays usually get a spot at the North Grove RV park, close to the central area, while tent campers use an unserviced tent camp. For more comfort, the motel rooms near the office have a queen bed, sitting area, ensuite bathroom, and basic kitchen facilities. Tampa International Airport is the nearest, with plenty of flights within the United States and some to Canada and Europe. From Tampa, take the 589 and 568 roads to the resort. Orlando International Airport is under a 2 hour drive and has more worldwide connections.
Renting a car or camper is the easiest way to get around, and the airports have many rental offices. If you do not plan to leave the resort much, an Uber from Tampa airport costs about 50 US dollars. Coming from the south, you can choose the scenic 275 highway over the Sunshine Skyway Bridge or the faster 75.
