The western half is flat, sandy, and backed by lagoons and nature reserves. The eastern half, approaching Trieste, shifts to rocky shoreline with small coves tucked beneath the Carso plateau.
The clothes-free culture here is informal rather than institutional. There are no naturist resorts or organised beach clubs along this coast. Instead, nudity happens at the quiet ends of public beaches, on trails beyond the last sun lounger, and on stretches where FKK markers have been painted on rocks by local naturists who have used these spots for years.
The overall atmosphere is relaxed and low-key. Most visitors are Italian, with a mix of local regulars and visitors from Venice, Trieste, and surrounding towns. This is not a well-known naturist destination by international standards, which is part of what keeps it appealing.

The best months for clothes-free beach days are May, June, and September. In July and August, the western beaches (Punta Sabbioni, Bibione) fill with clothed visitors and effectively stop being nude-friendly. Weekdays are always calmer than weekends.
