Florida bans public nudity under state law, so every nude beach here exists as an exception rather than the rule. Two of the four, Apollo Beach and Playalinda Beach, are located within Canaveral National Seashore, federal land where the state’s nudity restrictions do not apply. The other two, Haulover Beach and Blind Creek Beach, are protected by local county ordinances that carve out clothing-optional space within otherwise textile beaches.
Geographically, the beaches split into two clusters. Apollo Beach and Playalinda Beach are close together on Florida’s Space Coast, both reached through the same national seashore entrance system. Blind Creek Beach and Haulover Beach lie much further south, roughly 250 kilometres apart, on the Treasure Coast and in Miami respectively. There is no realistic way to combine all four into a single day.
Florida is also home to Tampa, often called the country’s unofficial nudist capital because of its concentration of naturist resorts and clubs. Despite that reputation, the state’s public nude beach count stays low, which makes the ones that do exist worth planning around carefully.

Apollo Beach is the northern anchor of Florida’s nude beach circuit, inside Canaveral National Seashore near New Smyrna Beach. It is the least visited of the four official beaches, with a wide, sandy shoreline that keeps its own space even on a busy day. Surf can be rough depending on wind, but the water is swimmable. The beach effectively has no end, since the nude section starts at the last parking lot and space is rarely tight.

Playalinda Beach

Playalinda Beach is the northern end of Canaveral National Seashore, reached separately from Apollo Beach via Titusville. Backed by dunes, it looks more scenic than its southern counterpart and typically draws a slightly larger crowd. It also lies at the end of the road, so plenty of space opens up for anyone willing to walk further from the last parking lot. Some sections have closed to vehicle access after past hurricane damage, so the nude area’s starting point can shift.

Blind Creek Beach

Blind Creek Beach on Hutchinson Island is the more relaxed of Florida’s two southern nude beaches, popular with Treasure Coast locals as well as visitors. The ocean here tends to be calmer than further north, and low tide opens up considerably more sand. There is no entrance or parking fee, which sets it apart from the Canaveral beaches. Facilities are basic: portable toilets and one covered picnic table, though county-led improvements to parking and restrooms have been underway.

Haulover Beach

Haulover Beach is the best known nude beach in the United States and the busiest of Florida’s four, drawing more than 1.3 million visitors a year. The nude section runs along the park’s northern end, roughly between lifeguard towers 12 and 16, and skews toward a younger, social crowd. On sunny weekends it can host thousands of people, with music playing and a lively atmosphere that contrasts sharply with the quieter Canaveral beaches. It is also the only one of the four with full facilities on site.

Orlando International Airport (MCO) is the closest hub for Apollo Beach and Playalinda Beach, both roughly an hour’s drive away. Miami International Airport (MIA) or Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood (FLL) serve Haulover Beach, which is inside Miami-Dade’s Haulover Park. Blind Creek Beach is roughly equidistant between Orlando and Miami, reached via Fort Pierce or Stuart. A car is essential for every beach.

Florida’s hurricane season runs from June through November, which can bring rough surf and storm risk to all four beaches. Winter and spring, roughly October to May, offer calmer conditions. Haulover Beach stays busy year-round because of its city location, with weekends drawing the largest numbers regardless of season. Apollo Beach and Playalinda Beach are quietest on weekdays outside school holidays.

Clothing is optional at every Florida nude beach on this list, and nude and clothed visitors share the same sand. Haulover Beach and Blind Creek Beach are explicitly clothing-optional by local ordinance. Apollo Beach and Playalinda Beach have a strong nude culture, but no one will ask you to undress or dress.
Are the nude beaches of Florida good for first-timers?

No. Passage Key was historically a popular boat-access nude sandbar near Tampa Bay, but it is now a federal wildlife refuge closed to all public use. We do not recommend planning a visit there, even though some boaters continue to anchor nearby informally.
