THE DESTINATION

THE DESTINATION & where to find it

Chan Resort is the oldest nude resort in Thailand and still one of its most popular. It is a small clothes-free hotel in the heart of Pattaya, a busy coastal city on the Gulf of Thailand.

Being a city resort, the footprint is compact and facilities are limited. The centre of it all is a large swimming pool surrounded by sunbeds. During busy hours the pool can fill up, partly because of day visitors.

There are 11 rooms in three price bands. The three VIP rooms are on the ground floor with a pool view. The mid-priced rooms on the first floor have an even better view. The cheaper rooms have a terrace view blocked by a wall. All rooms come with a queen bed, TV, fridge, and a spacious bathroom. The price gap between them is small, so it is worth choosing a better room.

THE EXPERIENCE

THE EXPERIENCE & what to expect

Chan Resort works best as a calm nude base rather than a place to spend every hour. The setting is a busy city, and the resort itself is small, so the usual rhythm is simple: a morning skinny dip and breakfast, a day out exploring Pattaya, then back to relax by the pool in the evening.

The pool is the heart of the place, lined with sunbeds and easy to settle into. It can get lively during peak hours, especially with day visitors, but it also has quiet stretches. The on-site restaurant covers all meals, with several choices for the complimentary breakfast and tasty options for lunch and dinner.

What guests tend to remember most is the service. The management understands what people who enjoy being naked want and keeps everything running smoothly. The staff greet you warmly and are quick to help with questions or plans.

Accommodation is straightforward and comfortable. The 11 rooms all have a queen bed, TV, fridge, and a roomy bathroom, and differ mainly by view and floor. The ground-floor VIP rooms look onto the pool, the first-floor rooms have the best views, and the cheapest rooms lose their view to a wall. Since the price difference is small, spending a little more for a better room pays off. The crowd is mixed, with a growing number of Thai guests alongside international ones.

GETTING THERE & what to know

getting there

Pattaya is about a 2 hour drive from Bangkok, which has two international airports. Suvarnabhumi is the larger, with worldwide connections, while Don Mueang mainly serves Southeast Asia.

From Suvarnabhumi, you can take a direct bus to Pattaya. From Don Mueang, take the A1 bus to Mochit Bus Terminal, then the Pattaya bus. At Pattaya bus station, a shared taxi or a Grab gets you downtown. A direct taxi from either Bangkok airport is easier but pricier, and should cost no more than about 50-70 US dollars, so agree the fare first. Chan Resort can also arrange transport.

where to stay
Chan Resort has 11 rooms at the budget end, in three price bands. The three ground-floor VIP rooms look onto the pool. The mid-priced first-floor rooms have the best views. The cheapest rooms have a view blocked by a wall. Every room has a queen bed, TV, fridge, and a spacious bathroom. Because the price gap is small, it is worth paying a little more for a better room. The resort is compact, so book ahead in peak season.
when to go
Thailand’s cool, dry season from about November to March is the most comfortable time in Pattaya, with less rain and lower humidity. This is peak season and the busiest for the resort and the city. The hot season follows, from March into May, when temperatures climb. The rainy season, roughly June to October, brings heavy but often short downpours and fewer crowds. For the best weather, aim for the cool months.
what to know

Chan Resort is clothes-free, with a mixed crowd of international and Thai guest who enjoy nude recreation. It is a small city resort, so treat it as a relaxing base and plan to explore Pattaya rather than stay in all day every day.

Taxi drivers at Bangkok airports often try to overcharge, so ask for the meter or agree a fare first, and expect no more than about 50-70 US dollars for a direct ride. Grab, the local version of Uber, is often more reliable. The pool can get busy with day visitors at peak hours. Book a better room, as the price difference from the cheapest is small.
