THE DESTINATION
THE DESTINATION & where to find it
La Sablière covers 62 hectares of wooded hillside in the Cèze gorges, with 2 kilometres of river frontage along the Cèze. The site descends from the top of the ridge to the riverbank at the bottom. Most of the pools, restaurants, and activity facilities sit in the middle section, accessible from all parts of the site without requiring a full climb in either direction. The dense forest and varied terrain prevent the site from feeling like a grid despite its 600-place capacity. Pitches and rental accommodation are tucked among trees and screened from each other, which keeps the sense of scale manageable. The stretch of Cèze river here is shared with two other clothes-free campsites, and nude sunbathing on the banks is standard along this section.
THE EXPERIENCE
THE EXPERIENCE & what to expect
The Cèze river gives La Sablière its character and its best hours. Guests sunbathe on the riverbanks through the morning, swim in clear mountain water through the afternoon, and climb back up the hill as the light shifts. The river is not supplementary to the campsite, it is the reason most guests choose it.
Three pools provide the alternative. The infinity pool is the standout, positioned on the hillside facing out over the valley, it gives a view that changes through the day as the light moves. An indoor heated pool with a sliding dome extends the pool season into cooler weeks at either end of the year and keeps swimming viable on grey days in high season. A children’s pool and water slides round out the complex.
Three restaurants serve different parts of the site, varying in position and character. Tennis courts, minigolf, a pottery club, and a kids’ club cover the structured activity options. The pottery club draws a particularly loyal following from returning guests. The site covers enough ground that discovering it properly takes a couple of days: winding forest roads connect the levels, and both the top and bottom sections have a distinct character that differs from the central zone.
Accommodation spans a wide range. Five types of chalets and seven types of mobile homes vary by size, position, and view. Five types of rental tents give options for those who want something between a pitch and a fully equipped unit. The Bellevue chalet, near the top of the site, is one of the top-end options: a generous terrace fitted with couches and sun loungers opens directly onto a wide view of the Cèze valley, and guests rarely spend time inside.

FAQ
most asked questions
Is La Sabliere suitable for first-time naturists?
Yes. The combination of a large, well-established site, a friendly international visitor mix, and a setting where the river and forest do most of the work makes it accessible. The scale can feel large on first arrival, but guests find their rhythm quickly.
Is La Sabliere family-friendly?
Yes. A kids' club, minigolf, water slides, and a children's pool keep younger guests active. The river adds a natural playground. Families are one of the two main visitor groups alongside couples.
What is the best time of year to visit La Sabliere?
July and August offer the warmest river temperatures and full facilities. Late May, June, and September are quieter, still offer swimmable water, and give better access to the wider area. The site is open end of March to early October.
Do I need a car to visit La Sablière?
Yes, a car is strongly recommended. The site is in the Cèze gorges near Barjac and is difficult to reach by public transport. The nearest TGV station is Avignon, from where bus 15 runs twice daily to Barjac. From Barjac the site is a further 6 kilometres.
Is nudity mandatory at La Sablière?
La Sabliere is a clothes-free campsite and nudity is expected throughout: at the pools, the river, the restaurants, and all communal areas.
What is the hillside layout like at La Sablière?
The site descends from the ridge to the river. Top positions give the best views over the Cèze valley. Bottom positions give direct river access. Most facilities sit in the middle section. Winding forest roads connect the levels and some steep sections are unavoidable.
